This past week has been INSANE! But in such a good way. Wow. I don’t even know what to say!
I checked-in on Monday! I live in a 3-bedroom apartment with 5 other girls, and it is gorgeous, I love it. Kayla and I have a really bright room and so it’s very “inviting”.
Casting on check-in today was extremely slow but also really exciting too since you knew you were going through the process to work at Disney! Ah!
Wednesday was what we call “Traditions”, which is basically your orientation before becoming an official cast member. There we got our name tags, learned some things about Disney, had a surprise guest, and got our IDs for free entrance to the park (aka our CM IDS). I don’t want to go into detail about Traditions, not really sure I can… Haha but if you’re going to be a Cast Member I don’t want to ruin it for you!
I had my first official day of work on Friday- basically I had to take this class called “Welcome to Entertainment” since Photopass is technically part of entertainment. It was so fun! But a really long day- 8:30am-5pm.
ALSO. DISNEY GOES ON MILITARY TIME. I’m finally getting used to it. Like for instance, today I worked 900-1800 (9am to 6pm).
Today I started my training for DPI (Disney Photo Imaging) only instead of the more broad stuff we did on Friday, and tomorrow I’ll be learning more about Nikon D90 and I think even going to the park? I’m not really sure.
But tomorrow and Monday I work 9am-6pm, so I’m getting overtime. Then Tuesday I think I work around the same time, and Thursday I have a park tour of Magic Kingdom from 7:15am-12pm, and possibly have Friday off.
So, in conclusion, I’ve been exhausted (and super broke!) so I am trying my hardest to get on here.
With that said, I have to wake up at 6:30am for work tomorrow to carpool and get something for my costume, so leave any questions you have in my ask box and I’ll answer them tomorrow or Monday! :)
how did your first day at check in go? ha, any suggestions for those of us who have a few days/weeks left?
Check-in was very interesting but a REALLY long day!
So, I would definitely suggest coming as early as possible- people were already lined up at 7 AM o_O
Bring snacks/water to check-in because you will be starving.
Also make sure to bring a folder to keep your forms organized that you get because you’ll get a ton of paperwork! And they want to check it all the time while you’re going through this process, it’s crazy.
And if you’re bringing a car, make sure to have your ID, insurance and registration AND if your insurance doesn’t have your name on it, you need something from your insurance company (letter) that proves you’re covered on that policy (like if your parents are paying for yours).
Say “Hello!” to one of my roommates- Carly! She’ll be a character performer at the Disney College Program :) She’s one of the six girls that will be in my apartment. Dan, the man in the middle, will also be in the program but he’ll be starting a week after us and in attractions!
Last night during my vacation I went to Downtown Disney to meet Carly, Dan, & Jenna in person, and to just hang out with my sister to do some window shopping. Downtown Disney is seriously so fantastic! I’ve never been before, but I really love it.
I seriously can’t wait to start the program now after last night- it’s going to be quite the journey.
It’s 1400 acres, with seven pools, a waterslide (the largest tube slide in the world!), golf courses, a lake you can jetski on, two fishing areas, volleyball, bars, food places, lazy river, annnd the list goes on and on. It is gorgeous here, I love it.
Time to watch a movie, skype, and relax! Then tomorrow we’re going to just chill at the resort :D
