for DPI do you have to take a certain amount of photos a day to reach a "quota"? Someone mentioned this at school the other day and I wasnt sure
Nope! That’s why we don’t (and really aren’t suppose to) ask people to take their picture! We wait for people to approach us. For the castle show we need certain photos but that’s why we have roaming photographers so we can capture candid photos, like if you’re on a ride. So, no quota! I’ve never been given a number to hit.
Some things about me for the newcomers and long-time followers:
Hi everyone! My name is Andrea. I’m a 21-year-old from Seattle(ish), Washington that currently lives in Orlando, Florida.
I work for Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Gaylord Palms, and in Downtown Disney.
At Walt Disney World, in the Magic Kingdom, I am in Disney Photo Imaging (DPI) aka I’m a photopass photographer. I started in DPI in January of 2011 with the Spring College Program, and now I am seasonal but still work a ton in the park! I got the opportunity to not only work at Magic Kingdom, but got special trainings for Tangled, Rover, Pirates League, Captain Jack Sparrow, and Support.
At Universal Studios I am a seasonal entertainment team member. I just finished doing the Macys Holiday Parade, and got the chance to work as a blue ornament for meet and greets and as a parade performer!
At the Gaylord Palms I was a part of the opening team for the Dreamworks Experience at the hotel. We had characters during our ICE event such as Alex the Lion, King Julian, the Penguins, Puss in Boots, Po, Gingy, Shrek, and Fiona.
And finally, at Downtown Disney, I am working at a little retail shop called Something Silver selling jewelry. I mostly just needed a part-time job with guaranteed hours so I can pay my rent every month!
I have a wonderful, amazing boyfriend named Steve, we’ve been together for about half a year now. I’m also a huge nerd: I love watching Star Trek, Stargate, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, any action movie, but also comedies, romance… really anything because going to the movies is my favorite thing to do- when I can afford it!
I currently live in an apartment with two other girls from Disney: one is a character attendant, and the other is a character performer. We have a whole apartment full of entertainment!
Hopefully this helps answer some questions, but I am always free to answer any question you have!
I just went and checked my paycheck, and apparently I just got a 20 cent raise! I’m excited! Every little bit counts! And I even got 4 hours of OT on this upcoming check, so saving money is definitely happening, woohoo!
My leader asked me if I can work a 12am-6am shift for the “One More Disney Day”, and I’m not really sure if I should or not! I feel like it’s going to be a ton of fun but I also kind of want to join in on the festivities!
because almost every question I get is just misspelled, and it drives me crazy! You don’t have to downgrade your English to make it so I can’t figure out who you are. I have no idea! Haha. That being said… What do you guys think?
What do we do with our bags at Check-in? we just leave them there or do we get our apartment first then do disney paperwork? what is the checkin process look like?
You can keep them in your car or you can put them in this tent that’s provided! You wait in line, do some paperwork, then get assigned an apartment, get your ID, meet in a group, take a bus to casting, figure out where you’re working, more paperwork (BRING SNACKS), training schedule, then to your apartment!
hi! I'm looking into doing the CP and found your blog, only to find that your hometown is 40ish minutes away from where I live...I live in Issaquah :) Your blog is great!
Ooo small world! I’ve met so many people from Washington here it’s kind of crazy. But when I lived there and told people I was doing the DCP, not one person had heard of it haha it was insane. Thank you!
I got one 4, and the rest were 5s which is one of the highest scored evaluations out of everyone! Yay!
I’m watching the third Narnia movie and I didn’t see the second so I’m a little confused because I can barely remember the books haha! Even though technically the second movie was the last book…
I’ve been doing a lot of head shots this week! I did a total of 3 sessions but it was so bright out I was getting frustrated. Le sigh. I need better camera equipment.
We’re babysitting a little puppy and so I spent the morning cuddling up with it, took it on a little walk, did two loads of laundry, ate a bagel… all info that is completely useless to you all! Woo!
My old roommate and best friend Kayla and Katy were just in town! It was so good seeing them, it’s been so long. They got to meet Steve, too, which was awesome. We went to Magic Kingdom for two nights, in the freezing cold, but it was so fun! Me and Steve went on Astro Orbitor for the first time, and it was actually really fun and comfortable, and then on Big Thunder for the first time together!
